This video features progressions and exercises to build strength and technique for contemporary jazz and leaps. Choreographer and Master Teacher Tracie Stanfield introduces over 40 variations on jazz jumps and leaps to develop a diverse repertoire for class work and choreography. Each series of movement teaches a steady and practical development in strength and technique for dancers of all levels. This master class begins with warm up drills to help dancers work with the correct muscles and ensure body placement in preparation for stronger and more efficient jumps and leaps. Following warm up and drills, dancers learn strengthening, conditioning exercises and transitions from saute de chats and leaps in second. Next, dancers are shown progressions and variations on fouette saute, tour jete, saute de chat, grand pas de chat, jazz emboites and more. Each variation builds on the previous exercise for gradual development and continued success.
